Once you have proved who you are, then the block will be lifted.They should be now be able to lift the suspension on the account and it will operate as ususal.If the account has indeed been closed as it had a zero balance, which I doubt, (even so it should not have been closed without your consent and they should have at least written to you.I doubt that the bank have closed the account, and at best flagged it dormant, If it was closed then they can confirm that. The latter is usually a safety measure for dormant accounts in case someone find the account and then starts to launder money through it. Provide them the Deposit Account number, they will ask you some questions to verify who you are.They many, ask for your address where you are living and you date of birth and when you originally opened the account, for identification.They wll be able to provide you with confirmation whether the account is still open, but flagged as dormant. not used but is still able to be used, and has a balance on it, even if thta is just £10/US$20, then you will not need to open a new account.Then all you need to do is telephone the office and just ask if the account is still operational and you have a balance.
If your savings account has just laid dormant, i.e.
